Community track · Software developers
A community for freelance software developers whose best work hasn't been seen yet
Back-end and automation work is invisible by nature. Nobody sees the job that syncs two systems at midnight, so it's hard to prove what you can do.
In the GenRise community that work gets seen. You build integrations, automations and internal tools for our products, document them and get them reviewed. Then you're matched to client projects that need exactly that, from replacing spreadsheets to connecting CRMs.

Proof of work
Ways to show off
Pick one, ship it on a live product and get it reviewed. That's your first piece of proof.
- Build an integration between two real services, with tests
- Automate a manual workflow and document the time it saves
- Design a database schema and defend it in review
- Write an API that other contributors build on
- Refactor a risky module without breaking anything
Paid client work
Where it leads
Once you've shown the skills, these are the client projects software developers get brought onto.
- Internal tools that replace spreadsheets
- API integrations between business systems
- Reporting dashboards
- Workflow automation and scheduled jobs
- Maintaining and upgrading existing software

FAQ
Software developers: FAQs
Which languages do you use?
Mostly TypeScript and Node.js, plus Python and PostgreSQL. Strong fundamentals matter more than any one language.
Can I contribute part-time?
Yes. Most members contribute around their studies or a job. We only offer you a client project when it fits your availability.
Who owns the code on client projects?
The client. All code and documentation is assigned to them on payment, and you're credited wherever the client agrees.
Good at this? Show us. We'll make sure it's seen.
Tell us what you're good at and share a link to your work, or just pick a good first issue and open a pull request. Every one gets reviewed.
